The Government of Goa on September 09, 2026, issued the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade (Amendment) Bill, 2026, further to amend the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1982.
The following has been stated: -
•The Goa Government amended the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1982 to revise the provisions relating to licensing of beach shacks.
•The prescribed authority shall invite applications for beach shacks for three consecutive tourist seasons, with eligible applicants selected through draw of lots where applications exceed permitted shacks.
•A licence shall be granted for one shack per family member, subject to prescribed fees, conditions and the Beach Shack Policy.
•A new Section 13C has also been inserted requiring registration of temporary shacks operated on private property within CRZ areas.
